five spice
this delectable pork tenderloin was rolled in five spice – a finely ground mixture of star anise, cloves, fennel seed, szechuan peppercorns, and cinnamon.
i preheated the oven at 375F, then seared the pork in a hot pan, and placed them in rack to be coated with some hoisin sauce. in the oven for about 15-20 minutes and voila!
this was a random asian meal with store-bought japanese soba noodles in a chicken broth, with a tablespoon of light soy sauce and mirin.
p.s. i need to eat here. sea urchin crostini?! spot prawn risotto?! smoked halibut cheek cakes?! tried going this past friday but it was booked until 930pm – ended up at my favourite thai resto, sukhothai. best thai food in the city. no joke.
