i got the day off today, after my extreeemely nice and understanding boss told me to stay home, after hearing about my spill. my first real bike accident (real, because this is the only one where i got legitimately hurt) that could’ve been prevented if i had realized biking when you’ve had wayyyy too many drinks and everything is blurry is a bad idea! but, lesson learned. fortunately my knees and my face broke my fall! kind of embarrassing but not many people have to know it was after biking straight into the curb… oops! it hurts to walk, but lesson learned. i think… how can you not choose to bike everywhere when the weather is so wonderful!?

alas, a great summer side to anything off the grill, a chickpea and grated carrot creamy salad. this was deeelicious! the only thing I would’ve changed was getting a coarser grated carrot, as i found the flavour got a little lost, and i love the taste of raw carrot.

the dressing was made with a a mayo/sour cream combo, and threw in some minced garlic, ground cumin, ground coriander, a healthy squeeze of lemon to loosen the dressing, and a variety of herbs. dill and chives worked great, but i think some chopped cilantro would’ve made it much better! unfortunately i was lazy, and refused to make the 8 minute walk to the closest store.

still, good. and careful with the garlic if you keep it for another day – since its raw, it packs a big punch when it gets time to settle.
